Debbie and have not seen one for a good year now, so when chulo starts running around, I look at Zach and say, "Man, i don't have my sandals, dude." He looks at me with a "Are you braindead" look and says, "You have all your shoes over here!" (For those who dont know, Debbie's asian culture requires that we and all our guests please remove their shoes upon entering our home).

So grab Debbie's Nike shoe and hammer away at the roach. This guy runs around like a possessed Randy Moss. He jukes left and then right, and here I am wacking away trying to nail him. Then the roach makes a run for one of my couches and gets under it. Well I wasn't having that so I lift the couch, completely disregarding whatever was on it. Zach then informs me my laptop was on the head rest area of my couch and obviously fell over when i lifted it. That's when I lost it. I started again after the roach and finally nailed him to a stand still. After which I way laid him to an abrupt end to his life.

"You little punk!" I started to say to myself. Other not so nice words were in the hopper ready to come out but I decided to restrain myself. I go over and check my laptop. It still works!! It fell from a good 4 feet off the ground and this thing is cruising like nothing happened to it. Sweetness!! How many people can say that about their laptops, HUH? I am definitely recmmending this bad boy to anyone that shops for a PC laptop. I think it's one of the best work horses i ever have owned. And it can take a hit! Like Terrel Owens last night against the 49ers.

Looking for a good laptop? go to www.averatec.com wanna buy it? go to either Best buy or Sams Club to find them. Either online or in person, they'll have it. And they're very affordable, too.

well that's my rant for today. Blessings to all.

Motherland doing its part...

Hector, my brother told me that Mexico was coordinating this but i didnt really think it would get any or much news coverage on it. Mexican President Vicente Fox called for the Mexican Red Cross and the military to coordinate a relief effort that includes a navy ship with vehicles and supplies into the gulf coast of LA. and a two part convoy which consists of medical professionals, food, mobile kitchens for feeding up to 7,000, supplies, and other goodies all packed into a 45 truck convoy. Guarded by MEX and USA people, the convoy is headed up to San Antonio crossing the border at Laredo, TX.

I am just excited to see that Mexico, a country that has had mixed relations with the USA for many reasons (including its border relations and its oil-supply relations) and a country clearly outmatched in regards to financial and military strength compared to the USA, can put all that aside and offer their help in the way they know best...through their people and their cooking! This is why i love my culture and my family roots. We may never be the richest country in the world but in our hearts always feel like we have something to give though it appears we have nothing to give.

I love the motherland, she makes me proud. So watch what idea i bumped into and think can help create renewed interest for people going mor often to the movies or something.

The idea started when i was watching the trailer piece for The Skeleton Key and the deep, raspy voiced narrator said "Everyone is talking about The Skeleton Key but no one is giving away how it ends." So i wondered how cool would it be to make a film and then have the alternate endings (like for the dvd editions) but instead of putting them on the dvds, actually have them distribute alternate endings to different theatres at random.

SO this how it would work... You have a movie like War of the Worlds with 5 different endings on it so essentially you would have 5 different movie versions on it. Then you would send them out at random to different places that way one group may see the movie and watch one ending of the movie and another group watch a different ending version at another location. How cool would that be?

Please feel free to post.

Method to the Madness

Aight, well here's the way it's rolling out now. When i started my business here and worked at it, my original plan was to open an office by the fall/winter of 2005. However, after my wedding and the beginning of 2005, i was not sure i would be able to pull that feat. Well, it seems I may be floating it whether i am ready or not. I am looking at opening an office in Frisco, TX! Things are not set in stone yet but here's the general location ideas... 121 and Preston Rd at Frisco, TX...121 and Coit at Frisco, TX...or W Spring Creek and Custer. I am posting this blog asking for prayers from my friends. My goal was to open office this year and i am excited that this opportunity is here but i am obviously nervous for fear that i may be moving too fast on this opportunity.

please pray for me as i embark on such an important decision of my life and career and i also ask for prayers for wisdom and strength. I especially worry for Debbie because any decision i make will obviously affect Debbie too. The plan would be to share about 1,000 sq ft with another agent for some time and then once we outgrow our space one of us would move on to a nearby area office. I just want the Lord to tell me whether my time is now and for me to work towards it or not to worry and wait for the next opportunity. Thank you guys for all your friendship and love. Que Dios me los Bendiga a Todos. Hasta Luego

A Blonde Moment Brought to You by Debbie

My wife will probably kill me after I share this but I have to becuase it is way too funny to pass up. Last Saturday we were on our way to Frisco, TX to see the new IKEA store (go to Debbie's blog to read all about it) but on the way we had to stop at my district office to pick up some paperwork and such. On the way out, we were making our way to the elevator. when we arrived there was an elevator that was closing up. Debbie, being the brave soul she is, runs to try and stop it and re-open the doors. Bless her heart but the problem was that the sensors were not detecting her and so all the doors would do was try to continue to close. The real problem was though that she was prying the doors, she did not extend her arm through the doors so the elevator would detect someone actually trying to go through. So she kept fighting the elevator and telling me, i got it i got it.

I pull her arms out of the way of the doors and started yelling about what in the world was she thinking trying to re-open the doors when they were practically shut. She said "I Almost had it." Yeah, i bet you would say that too when the doors close your hands shut! Psycho! So anyways, we laughed about that for a bit but then i guess the thought of her foolishness set in. So she was a little frustrated on our continued path towards IKEA. Oh well.

As for IKEA, that was nice i was very suprised by the quality and the prices they had to offer. I look forward to going there more often in the future. Ciao!

Bedridden

I'm crippled. I'm somewhat disabled. I'm hurting. I'm a little hunched over. I tell Debbie I feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame. I appear to have caused a back problem to myself playing tennis too hard. I was in mid-stride ripping out a forehand shot onto my opponent and then did a stop and run back to center court kind of play. Somehow in the middle of this play i must have irritated my lower back. I decided it was no biggie, so i kept playing. Stupid stupid mistake. Now i am laying bed about 15 hrs every 24 hours. How sad is that? I can barely walk without my back screaming obsenities in pain language. I walk around in a prostrate manner around the house, too. One friend described it as my way of respecting and paying honor to Debbie.

Now i know how people with back pain feel. Kudos to those who have survived back injuries. This is definitely the most difficult injury i have ever dealt with because you feel so helpless. When you sprain a wrist or ankle, that is just one limb of your body. you can still move around with the rest. but your back affects the way you move completely. and your constant movement continues to aggravate the injury too. it's crazy and unbearable sometimes.

Hopefully this wont put me down too long but i dont really know. i think i am going to give it about 3 days before i seek medical advise. In the meantime all i can do is just lay around the house and pray the ice/hot patches work for me. I dont know what else i can do in the meantime you know? I ask for your prayers in this matters and i will keep you posted on how my recovery goes. God Bless.

You know You're a ...

Ok, So Debbie showed me this website that has some lists of you know you're a mexican if list and one for malaysia. If you dont know, please click on the farmers.com link to your left and contact me to see how I might be able to protect and build your assets you've worked so hard to get ;P. Now that I've got my one-liner out of the way, let me tell you guys what i came up against this last tuesday night.

It was about 8:30 pm and I was out in a "questionable" neighborhood at an appointment I had with a new customer for renter's insurance. We went through his belongings and took pics of it all so we could prove ownership in the case of a claim, bla bla bla... Then as we were concluding our walk through, the customer asked, "By the way, do you include coverage on firearms?" I figured well yeah sure, it's property right? and it's of value right? so, "Sure, of course we do," was my firm and quick reply. As he sighs relief about what his great new renter's insurance can do for him, he whips out this .380 semi-automatic BRYCO ARMS gun (similar to the one you'll see on this link) and throws it onto his bed and signals for me to take pics of it. For those who dont know, i am petrified, mortified, scared to the piont of peeing and pooping in my pants at the sight of a gun. I tried holding one before and scared my church youth minister because i was kinda waiving it the wrong way, if you get what i mean.

So anyways, as I get through faking the fact that guns don't scare me, the client decides to also whip out his MAVERICK 12 gauge to help supplement my mortal fear of the lethal weapons. At this point I'm starting to pale up a bit (not like it matters cuz i got some melanin to spare anyways right?) and decide that this was a good time to have a conversation about why he feels the needs to have 2 weapons at his bedside. He was telling me about how some guys tried stealing his car and that he ran out with his one gun to stop them and said that he was so happy about how effective of a theft deterrent it was he figured a second one would not hurt. Thankfully I made it out without any holes... I think.

But here's where my reflection begins. There was a thought that ran my mind as I was driving home that night. There are many mortal weapons within my reach really...like kitchen knives and my driving. I know I can scare people with the way I drive but I have rarely felt a fear of death through my insane driving. When I was in college, I would drive my father's car to about 230 kph in some road stretches while driving back home (go on, do the transfer formula or go to your car to figure that out). It was a rush but never though about dying while driving that fast though.

Another thought was that "Wait a minute!" I'm Mexican how can I be scared of guns we practically use them as fireworks in most holidays back home. Moreover if i'm supposed to live up to the stereotype some have placed on my people. I should be sleeping with one under the pillow and be able to take them apart and re-assemble in my sleep. Sorry to disappoint but i can't. So that's that.

Overall, I am just glad to say that I did survive my brush with death and will be able to continue blogging for everyone's enjoyment. Hasta Luego!

I'm Still Alive

Ok, so it's been awhile, i know. But that happens sometimes right? Anyways, we (my lovely and I) just got back from a wonderful weekend getaway at Austin, TX and San Marcos, TX. We had a great time at Rick and Bethany's Wedding and decided we would stay a couple more days while we were there, you know. Now mind you i was unsure whether we should do this or not but i knew i owed it to Debbie for just putting up with me. Well here was the divine blessing.

When we went to pick up the rental car at Love field, the rental lady said that she needed to dump a convertible on us since we were only two people and they were short on 4 passanger vehicles. Mind you I was not inside when this transpired, I was actually in our car waiting and wondering, "What the heck can take so long to rent a stupid car." And just when i think it's debbie driving out, it turns out to be some black thug on his cellphone not paying attention to his surroundings (I HATE cellphone drivers!). Then here comes this convertible Chrysler out the lot and i think "Well that's definitely not her," and then the car drives up behind me and honks!. Holy crap what happened...uh-oh what did happen $$$. She went crazy and upgraded for 2x as much! She explained it to me when we got home that they were short and begged us to take it for no extra charge. I'm sure Debbie was coerced into this arrangement.

I did my research and stayed at a La Quinta Inn. Not too great but not roah motel either. But i did that so we could afford to eat very nice while we were there. While in Austin, we went to eat at a "gourmet" Italian restuarant for dinner with Jeff and Cindy Maya (Church friends) and for lunch the next day, we ate at this beautiful home-turned-into restaurant that served fancy american cuisine of sorts. very very good stuff. Then we went to spend some time at the Outlet Mall in San Marcos and that was fun too. For those that care and notice, we got Debbie an NIV version bible (Nathan). So now she can read out loud and not worry bout losing people in the process.

We also got to enjoy the fireworks display back in Las Colinas here in the MetroPlex with our friends. That was awesome, the Irving Symphony Orchestra was there and that was very nice too. We had debris fall on us while intoxicated by the sulfur aroma, too. Sorry Zach that you missed a lot of the fireworks!

But yeah, we had a great time and enjoyed our small 7-month anniversay get away. It was really supposed to be a 6-month but oh well. It was worth the wait, I hope (that's what she tells me at least). So till next time and hopefully it won't be that long. For those of you who want the girly version of this story, please refer to the Malaysian Treehouse blog link. Bye now.

My Six 1/2 Days of Loneliness

SO if you have not read from Debbie's blog lately, she has left me for a week for a youth mission trip in New Orleans, LA. I get to talk to her everyday in the evening but things are sure different without her at home. SO what I have decided to do is kind of short journal my days without her and she won't even know I'm doing this until she gets back home and sees this blog like Friday or Saturday of this week, hehehe. So here goes...

DAY ONE...

So Debbie leaves early Saturday morning and my day is already gone to a good start, I met up with a college buddy and played tennis for about 2 hours and won, too. So we're off to a good start. I run around to meet up with my little friend (he's a 5 year old boy whom I've been attached to for a little bit, he's such a trip) playing tee ball and that was fun getting to hang out with all the mothers in the stand cuz the fathers are helping out in the game. That led to a little too much women hormones and stuff but it was alright.

But the crazy moment of the day was when I was at Best Buy and was paying for whatever I was buying, the CASHIER HITS ON ME!! Hold up, hooooold up! First of all, I'm not exactly dressed to impress here (t-shirt and shorts and cap) and secondly if you have not seen my wedding ring, let me explain it to you. My ring is obvious! It's a platinum band with about 7 DIAMONDS ON IT!! HOW COULD YOU BE A GIRL AND POSSIBLY MISS THAT?! (click here for pic of it) Like that's the reason that we got it (Debbie jokes about this but I think there's some truth to it). I admit I can be a little too friendly to the ladies, Debbie knew this when we got married and understood that and was ok with it because she trusts I won't do her wrong. But God as my witness I did nothing, I was actually upset cuz it took them so long to get me out of there. So yeah, that was my crazy moment of day one.

DAY TWO...

It's Sunday morning, I slept a whopping 5 hours last night, not a good first night without Debbie. I get ready for church and church was good. I go get some lunch at whataburger...$5.51. Wow, first time my food tab is less than 10 dollars...Oh wait, debbie's not here :( Then its home I go to eat and hang out with some guys and play some PS2. My Sunday was pretty uneventful but the highlight of today was that we had a Baptism this morning, that was awesome. Also watched Game 2 of the NBA Finals with the Nielands and Robert Foster, but when bed time came around, I realized that this place is getting a little too quiet and almost creepy even. oh well, time for bed and hopefully I'll sleep a little better tonight.

DAY THREE...

It's Monday and I don't think I'll make I to the evening due to another 5 hour sleep. If this is the way its going down, ayayay. I'm not gonna make it here. it's definitely too quiet at home and the bed is comfy but debbie's not here to pick a bedtime fight with. Another symptom of debbie's absence is the kitchen. it's not looking good over there. Usually the kitchen goes to bed clean. Right now it would be lucky to even look clean at some point. As for my work day, well it was Monday and I had to square off with a customer who had issues with his coverage that HE chose and I recommended against it. Stink to be him but he chose his coverages so there was nothing I could do for him. SO that was that. I am also searching to start putting out ads very soon with a local paper, but I wont confirm that until Wednesday, but I'm praying over it. Well its off to bed again for another grand 5 hours of insomnia of sorts.

DAY FOUR....

Surprisingly I slept a little better last night, incredible how much easier it is to sleep without the TV or RADIO on! Well tonight I had to get the grill ready cuz I was having some peeps over for some dinner and my surprise of the evening was seeing Laura Rich with her "True Blue Gecho." It was really her new car, a Toyota Echo. Surprisingly roomy considering the size of it and all. But anyways, other than that there has not been much to tell about today, I am getting used to the sudden silence my apartment has experienced lately. But today was pretty normal. We'll see what tomorrow holds.

DAY FIVE...

Well today I went ahead and signed my first contract for the AUTO REVISTA, a bilingual auto newspaper that does a couple of articles as well as a lot of auto dealer ads. I figured they would be my best cost effective option as far as working on public exposure and such. Hopefully this will be a worthwhile investment that will pay dividends in the future. I'm really nervous about it because it will be a $780 investment, it's not like I drop that kind of money everyday you know but it's an investment needed to make for my progression as an agent in the Dallas area, so we'll see how it all pans out.

As for my missing honey, well, needless to say Zach has started saying that I need a woman very soon. He also said that the perfect woman for me will be in town this Friday... ;P...so we'll have to see what this woman is like since he's talking her up so much.

DAY SIX...

Apparently, my signing on with the AUTO REVISTA guys is already paying off, they invited me to go to a dinner involving used auto dealers in the dallas area. So I went to to see what it was all about. Well I met with many owners and GM's of these dealers and I think it was definitely worth it so I am already happy about this arrangement.

Debbie called and said today was their play day in New Orleans, they went to the French Quarter and some other places in the area. But the funny thing is that her parents from overseas called me, too. My father in Law called and started singing "Are you lonesome tonight," in a funny Asian accented Frank Sinatra style (if that makes any sense).

I really am getting anxious about their return. I finally managed to get used to sleeping without Debbie in the same bed but I bet I look funny sleeping with a pillow in my arms...

DAY 1/2...

Today they finally return. It's been an odd week but I think it was good for Debbie and myself to be apart for a little. Now the final chapter of this week is about to come to pass....HOLY CRAP I NEED TO CLEAN THIS PLACE UP!!!! The kitchen, the bedroom, the living room. AYAYAY! Well, hasta luego, I am off to go clean this place up or else I may not be around to continue posting. God Bless. My baby's coming Home!

Treadmill Bed

So it's been a little while since my last posting but bear with me. I go to Longview, TX to drop off my "little" brother (those of you know why that's in quotation marks) for his summer internship with the church there. The place we stayed at was a church members house, thankfully we did not have to stay at a hotel that night. Even though I am thankful for the sleeping arrangements, there is a little story that happened the night we stayed out there. The room provided had a comfy and soft full size bed. Now even though one of us (ME) is a little bigger than the other, theoretically we (Debbie and I) could still share and sleep in the same bed without one of us falling over.

Now REALISTICALLY is another story. Some of you don't know but Debbie and I like our space at night. Like we really like our space. We currently sleep in a queen size mattress at home and Debbie likes to roll over to the middle or "accidentally" throw an arm or a leg on my side. So to avoid any problems, I decided I would sleep on the floor. The floor wasn't comfy though but you know what was....The treadmill in the room. I put a body pillow on the running area belt and the other on the base of the treadmill and I was good for the night. Debbie couldn't believe that was possible and was just surprised I was even comfortable but it was all good, as long as nobody turned it on in the middle of the night.

Until next time...

Finally! The End of the Jedi Journey...or Is It?

So we (Debbie, Jeremy, Adam, Tim, and myself) finally went to see the 3rd and final episode (I hope) of the star wars double trilogy. FINALLY!! Good gravy I thought it would never end! Not that I minded the movies, overall I think they will be great legendary pieces of film making. Definitely one for the ages but for now I am glad they are over...or are they?

Well lets see, the film will be on screens world wide for awhile, right. then you have all the franchise marketing going around (Burger King, toymakers, etc.) and then if they play it like the LOTR trilogy, they will release the Episode III DVD, then after 3-6 months they would release the UNCUT, DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY, BEHIND THE SCENES, BLA BLA OOBER COOL SPECIAL EDITION trilogy, which would include Episodes I-III all in a cool aluminum or special cardboard cover/sleeve all for the considerate $80-$100 tag. And then, if they really wanna out do the others, they would go ahead wait another 3-6 months and put the ULTRA ULTRA ULTRA ULTRA SPECIAL EDITION with BOTH trilogies on it in consecutive order and put that in gold-plated casing and sell that for Lord knows how much.

So is the whole Star Wars thing really over then? I'm confused...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mxnigs.blogspot.com/2005/05/finally-end-of-jedi-journeyor-is-it.html' title='Finally! I get writer's block, I completely don't have a clue what I should write about. Then to top it off, this last week has been an emotional roller coaster for many friends of mine.

What's in my heart right now is the Whaley family (click here for story) as well as a church friend and her family. This last week these two families have lost loved ones and both of their backgrounds and stories are pretty heart wrenching. Please pray for these families. The Whaleys have lost their newborn baby son and the Carbajals lost their 15 yr old girl.

On top of those events, while visiting the Carbajal family and leaving some food for them, there was a hit and run right outside their house. This poor guy was going to pick up his date on his way to prom. Even though I didn't feel too bad about his truck being a little broken (cuz it looked like butt with fake spinners and blue flame vinyl on silver background) I felt awful for this poor kid just trying to have a good time towards the end of his school year.

Hopefully this week will be a little more normal (finger crossed). May the Lord bless you and Keep you.

Man U Sold Out

Ok so I decided to take a glance at today's news at cnn.com and to my dismay I read one of the most discouraging things in recent soccer history. Manchester United has been (by a current 55% shareholding) bought out by an American ProSports investor. Not just any investor, but the owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Malcolm Glazer! WHAT?! (click here for story)

Dont get me wrong I don't mind an American owner for the greatest soccer franchise in this last decade, but the Bucs owner? I would almost prefer Jerry Jones over Glazer to own Manchester United. Does this guy even know what "Futbol" (not FOOTBALL...FUTBOL) is? Hopefully Manchester won't suffer the fate the Bucs have since their spoltlight moment back in '02-'03 season when they won the SB. God save the queen (and the Red Devils).

-Your Friendly Mexican Farmers Agent

Might as well

Well, it's 2005 I guess I may as well get caught up with one of those trends and start "blogging" my life stories away here.
